Chosen Child

Adopted children are often called chosen children. Written in August of 2012, this was inspired by someone dear to me who struggled in her younger years to find herself. Although adopted into a very loving home (she holds no regrets), the yearning to find her place was strong nonetheless.

Chosen Child

Connections yearned for
relationship strings taut
tenuous threads of bonding
frail and unstable

a difficult decision long ago made
you have a lifetime to debate it
life given
then given up

a chosen child
not fitting into a mold
curious how i became
finding out where i belong

wondering who i look like
who gave me this smile
who gave me these eyes
whose traits i share

longing to fit in
longing to be free
to identify
all the parts of me

alas we meet
now i see
difficulty for
both you and me

what could’ve been
never was
what could be
may still become

So I've Been Thinking...

Of you....

Lying back on the bed, hair loose and surrounding your head on the pillow.
Me kissing your lips then moving down to your neck.
My body pressed against yours, rocking slowly....providing a firm pressure against you.

Then I think....

Of your head pressed back, your throat exposed, your back arched.
My head between your thighs, sucking your clit into my mouth.
Varying pressure from my lips.
My tongue stroking you.

Then I think...

Of your lips parting as a moan escapes.
My fingers finding the warm wet cavern of you and tiptoeing inside.
Testing the waters before plunging inside you...deeply.

Then I think....

Of your voice husky and firm when you half whisper half yell that you're at your peak.
Your thighs tightening around my head.
My mouth riding your waves of pleasure as convulsion after convulsion lifts your hips.

Then I think....

Of your arms wrapped around me, pulling me close.
Your heart thudding against my hand as I rest it above your breast.
Your shoulder solid against my ear as I rest my head upon you waiting for your breath to return.
So I can press my lips against yours and inhale the passionate love that you exhale into me,
kissing you gently as you float softly back down to our bed.

Wofe= Women of Empowerment

Women are known to be the harshest on themselves. We don't have to be picked on from outsiders, we do it all on our own. Our bodies seem to be the hardest for us to get past. We're not skinny enough, or are too thin. Our hips are narrow, our hips are wide. Thick lips, thin lips. Small boobs, sagging boobs. Large butts or flat ones. Dark skin, light skin, or fair skin. Never happy with what we have, but always wanting something else. Can't we find the courage to love what we have? Isn't that one of the strongest feats we can accomplish?

We need to step up and create a world where people are accepted for who they are, where they are freed from rules, peer-pressure, self-punishment, and "societal norms." We need to stand up and show the world that people of all cultures, all sizes and all backgrounds can embrace their own unique beauty, societal standards be damned!

What if you didn't have to change anything about yourself? What if you no longer felt the need to improve something that you are told isn't good enough. In my opinion, once we stop "fixing" ourselves, we become free - free to invent full lives that we can actually enjoy. Let's begin now, shall we?
